Wedding Reception Dance Etiquette

The wedding dance is one of the most anticipated parts of the wedding reception. Through our experience, we find most couples getting married in Scotland prefer their wedding DJ to go with a modern format.  Below is brief outline of a contemporary dance arrangement. This is a guide only; your wedding disco can be customised to suit your own requirements.

Contemporary Dance Arrangement:

First Dance: The first wedding dance is the 1st dance between the Bride and Groom as a married couple. In most cases, the first dance is reserved exclusively for the Bride and Groom. We have provided many discos though, where the bridal party is introduced midway through the first dance.

Second Dance: The second dance will commonly involve the Bridal Party joining the Bride and Groom on the dance floor. Once the DJ has introduced the Bridal Party, all remaining guests are then asked to join the happy couple for the remainder of the 2nd dance.

Dancing & Fun:
Once the formalities have been taken care of, your wedding DJ will get your guests up and moving, dancing, mingling, and having fun.

Again, this is simply a guide for your consideration. Your wedding disco can be completely customised to suit you. If you'd prefer a full traditional approach to the formal dances it's not a problem. Alternatively, start your own tradition and have something completely different - It's your wedding day!
